The idea behind Unmute Minds is that it would be a student-led social media campaign designed to empower young Australians to speak openly about mental health and dismantle stigma through authentic, peer-driven storytelling. Centred on the messages “It’s okay to not be okay” and “Unmute your mind,” the campaign would use Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts to spark relatable conversations through short-form videos, memes, and interactive challenges. By collaborating with micro-influencers and sharing real student experiences, Unmute Minds would transform social media from a space of comparison into one of connection, empathy, and support, creating a lasting community that amplifies youth voices and normalises help-seeking behaviour.
